Site Visits

Many of our graduates tell us that serving as a member of a site visit team is one of the most interesting and important learning experiences of their PreLEAD program. We hope that your experience will be the same. Here are some things that you can do to ensure a good experience for yourself and the district that you visit.

  • Check the list below to see which sites already have an ISU PreLEAD team member. Only two ISU PreLEAD students, 1 elementary and 1 secondary, per site visit.
  • Bring a positive, professional perspective and an open mind to the opportunity.
  • Commit to serve the entire 3 days, to be an active reviewer, and to complete whatever work is assigned to you. Remember that you represent yourself as a professional educator, Iowa State University, and your school district when you serve on a site visit team.
  • Recognize that you are doing important work. As consolidation and accountability pressures escalate, site visits are increasingly high stakes reviews rather than perfunctory visits. Take your charge seriously.
  • Dress and behave professionally. You are a future administrator!

If you need assistance with release from your school district to complete a site visit, please contact your adviser: Jan Beatty, or Greg Robinson. We will do our best to assist you.
