2010-2011 Site Visits

Many of our graduates tell us that serving as a member of a site visit team is one of the most interesting and important learning experiences of their PreLEAD program. We hope that your experience will be the same. Here are some things that you can do to ensure a good experience for yourself and the district that you visit.

  • Register early with the Iowa Department of Education at http://www.iowa.gov/educate/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1558&Itemid=2342#SiteVisits.
  • Then Click on Site Visit Team Member Invitation 2010-2011.
  • The DE will accept only one ISU student with an elementary teaching assignment and one with a secondary teaching assignment per site visit.
  • Bring a positive, professional perspective and an open mind to the opportunity.
  • Commit to serve the entire length of the visit and to complete whatever work is assigned to you. Remember that you represent yourself as a professional educator, Iowa State University, and your school district when you serve on a site visit team.
  • Recognize that you are doing important work. As consolidation and accountability pressures escalate, site visits are increasingly high stakes reviews rather than perfunctory visits. Take your charge seriously.
  • Dress and behave professionally. You are a future administrator.
